Updates on Lee - Monday, April 11 - 2100

Sunday night was uneventful, which is a good thing. Lee's stats were stable through the night. However, Lee's lungs are still the main concern even though the X-ray from Monday did not show that they were worse. It was confirmed that Lee does have pneumonia, and is now on an antibiotic called Zyson. Monday morning they lowered his O2 to 70% but kept his peep (pressure) at 14. The plan was to continue to lower the O2 as long as Lee's saturation stayed within their guidelines. They had orders not to mess with the peep. This decision by the lung doctor was based on the improvement in Lee's blood gas numbers. As of Monday, 2030 hours, his O2 is at 60% and his saturation is steady at 95. This is positive and if the saturation increases and stays consistent above 97, they will consider lowering the O2 even more. The sepsis remains, but he is being treated. From what we are told, ridding this completely takes some time. Lee's blood pressure and heart rate have remained stable.

The podiatrist came by and lanced the large blood blister that had formed in Lee's heel. She said she thinks it was caused from pressure, but they did take a culture and will have those results later. The swelling in his legs continue to decrease.

Day by day, continued prayers and positive thoughts.

On another note, Lee got a shave today. One of the nurses thought it would make us all feel better, so she braved the growing forest with care and dexterity. The little nurse-turned-barber could not get under the tubes, so Lee now has a mustache and a small goatee, the women say he is looking cute.....he will now have a place to store some leftovers, and pre-wet his reeds.

We continue to play music for Lee. His buddy Mark recommended Rick Braun. We think Lee enjoys the music. Our rotation also includes: Count Basie, Hayley Westenra, the Classical Guitar Channel and the Tower of Power style.

Thank you for continuing to visit Lee. We know he knows you are here. It is time to return the Words of Encouragement he has shared with all of us.
