Lots of smiles with animated talk last night. Lee is still in a very delicate situation right now, but is making progress. We all know that trying to balance progress with repair is tricky. Words from many last night, "We are waiting for Lee now. It is his turn to get the work done."
During the last 12 hours, they continued to wean Lee off the O2 Inputs from the ventilator, and the numbers remained stable. Through the night, they were able to lower the O2 Input to 80%, and his O2 level remained in the mid 90s.
0730 - They did some more suction. Because of his condition, he is putting out some thicker mucus, and it needs to come out of his lungs. As we noticed during the same procedure yesterday, when the treatment is done, the numbers dip a bit. When his body recovers from this procedure, it takes about an hour or so, before the numbers begin to look better.
At this time, he is on 85% support, and the numbers are holding. During the morning inspection of his extremities, a small discolored boil/blistered was discovered on one heel. Everyone is scratching their heads on this one...
1000 - Starting a new round of Dialysis, same plan as yesterday.
If you visit, be prepared to talk to him. He may not respond, but he can hear. There are some pretty good stories from his buddies they may want to share. We all live better with words of encouragement, so let him have it!
