A day of progress.
X-ray taken this morning did not show any significant
changes other than some infiltration due to non-movement.
0300
- They lowered the O2 input to 70%. When Dr. Ahmed came in, he lowered the
PEEP to 10. Blood pressure and heart rate have been stable. Nanette
spoke to Dr. Ahmed (lung Doctor) and he was pleased and stated that the
dialysis will help, which started around 0800. He remained stable
through the process, and they were able to remove 4.5 liters of fluid
which is very good.
1100 - They lowered the O2 input to 65%. The RT
stated that if Lee tolerates this percentage, they will continue to
lower his O2.
1350 - GOOD NEWS: Arterial Blood Gasses (ABG) results came back NORMAL, so Ahmed is having the RT lower O2 down to 55%. If Lee can tolerate this then they will lower again later. However, PEEP is still at 10 and pressure is still at 15. ❤❤️️😀😀❤️❤️
1745 - RT just lowered the O2 support to 50%. The progress is slow, but steady.
They will not touch his pressure or PEEP settings at this point. They
will remain at 10 and 15 until Dr. Ahmed says otherwise. The Internal
Medicine Doctor came in and indicated that things look better but that
Lee is still very critical.
Comments from within: The outward love that has been shown to Lee by
his friends is amazing. As I have mentioned before, Lee knows when his
friends visit, and I know he misses hanging with them and wants that
life back again. The music we are playing is comforting as well. One of
the head nurses who trains students, stopped by and said that when she
was going through the nursing Master's program, they did a study on how
music therapy is amazing for the critical care patience recovery. We
knew this but it is nice to hear it from those involved in his medical
care.
Eternal Vigilance!
